Hi Paul,

The experience Maria had was a high show of good and bad manners.
Her excellent character showed by giving her seat to the woman while
the young man's manners had been overlooked when he stole the seat.
I am not the kind of woman to have been quiet about that. As you feel
you would have had an outburst, I agree, but Maria probably has not
been exposed to violence so didn't use her umbrella to put him on his
feet again. It is difficult to teach our children peace and where to draw
the line. Perhaps a long, old fashioned hat pin would be a good weapon.

I applaud your encouragement of Youngone's creativity. About six years
ago, a young man wrote me the same way on the same board. We
exchanged poems and suggestions for many months, then he stopped
writing. A few monthss ago he wrote to say he took my advice in where
to head with his poetry, entered and won a highly sought contest and
now is in a school in California learning the craft of screen writing. It is a
very rewarding feeling to know our teachings are heard.

Always,
Sylvia
