Dear Gaer,

This is certainly one of the most amazing young women
you could meet. She looks like Tony's twin. She is tender
and gentle but active and can be high spirited. She is ambitious and yet she has a very giving nature.

She has never lost a friend and since she and I travelled a
bit before she married a Marine, she has lived in many places.
If she has a day that she doesn't hear from several different
people in different states, she feels abandoned.

She is a leader in activities and in work, a teacher of
the rules of her chosen profession, patient with those who
don't know the difficulities she faces at times because of
their lack of co-operation.

At Mother's Day, I asked for a charm from her instead of
flowers--she sent a beautiful heart with the inscription I love you. She always tries to please--everybody--to help and to
give. She has been my rock since we lost Tony. She adored
him and it was mutual. She is my baby and I am so proud of her.

You are right to have read darkness in this poem although
frankly I had not thought of that. I had written it to console her and guide her. It was a very emotional time though and
you felt that. I am so glad you told me that. Thank you for
everything. Sylvia
